Study Permit
Study Permit
Canadian universities and colleges are renowned worldwide for their high academic standards and excellent training programs.
Many students dream of studying in Canada. The Canadian government permits international students to study in the country through a Study Permit. While some courses do not require a Study Permit, if you aim to work and eventually obtain permanent residency (PR), it is crucial to select a program at a college or university that qualifies you for a work permit after graduation, which can assist in securing PR later.
To be eligible for a Study Permit, you must be accepted into a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada and demonstrate sufficient funds to cover tuition, living expenses, and return transportation. Additionally, you must pass a medical exam and a security check and have no criminal record. With a Study Permit, you can study in Canada for the duration of your program and, in many cases, work on campus and sometimes off campus while studying. If you wish to remain in Canada after your studies, you can apply for a post-graduation work permit or permanent residence.
Resourceful Tips:
- Check if the institution is a DLI: Ensure that the institution is recognized as a Designated Learning Institution.
- Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) Eligibility: Verify whether your institution and program qualify for a PGWP, as not all DLIs are eligible. Choosing the right institution and program is essential for applying for a PGWP later.
- Work While Studying: Determine if your program allows you to work while you study.
- Family Benefits: If you are married and have children, your spouse can obtain an open work permit while you study, and your children can attend Canadian schools free of charge.
Earning a Canadian degree/diploma would open excellent career opportunities for you all over the world
